CHARLOTTE, Ensemble in Chocolate and Toffee Linen

Size: XS

Petticoat Color: Toffee

Step back in time with our exquisite 18th-Century Ensemble, the CHARLOTTE. This two-piece set, inspired by the popular fashion of Western Europe and America from 1770-1785, is a beautiful blend of historical accuracy and contemporary craftsmanship. Perfect for historical reenactments, theater performances, or simply to satiate your love for vintage fashion, the CHARLOTTE Ensemble in Chocolate and Toffee Linen is a timeless piece that will make you feel like royalty.

The ensemble includes a long overdress, open at the front, and an 18th-century skirt. The overdress, crafted from medium-weight chocolate prewashed linen, features a square neckline and pre-shaped elbow sleeves adorned with a delicate pleated lace ribbon in sand color. The white cotton lining of the bust and sleeves adds comfort, while the metal eyelets on both sides of the front opening ensure a perfect fit. Synthetic whalebones are meticulously placed on the back and both sides of the front opening, providing structure and elegance. The overdress is completed with a wide, 37.5-inch pleated train, adding a dramatic flair to the ensemble.

The 18th-century pleated petticoat skirt is made of two toffee (or chocolate) prewashed linen panels sewn on the sides, matching the length of the train. The historically accurate pleating and the beautiful volume when worn over a bustle pad (available in our Undergarments section) add to the authenticity and charm of the ensemble. This ensemble is not just a costume; it's a wearable piece of history, meticulously handcrafted to the highest standards of quality and authenticity that Atelier Serraspina stands for.

Care for your CHARLOTTE Ensemble as you would any treasured garment. Gentle hand wash and line dry to maintain its beauty and longevity. Embrace the allure of the past with the CHARLOTTE Ensemble in Chocolate & Toffee Linen, a masterpiece that marries historical fashion with modern craftsmanship.

All About Charlotte

The CHARLOTTE overdress consists of a fitted bodice to which is attached a wide pleated open skirt, pleated in the 18th-century manner. This 18th-century costume has a very generous volume of fabric. You can match the Charlotte overdress with any skirt from the store's HELOISE collection.

The fitted linen bodice is full lined with cotton poplin. Its square neckline closes at the front with a band of eyelets on either side of the opening. A delicate lace ribbon trims the end of the preformed elbow sleeves.

The HELOISE petticoat is made of two panels of fabric, joined by the sides whose upper end remains open on each side. This opening allows you to easily put on the skirt.

The two panels of this historical petticoat are pleated in the style of the 18th century. On the front, the pleats start from the central box towards the sides. On the back, the folds start from the sides to converge in the middle of the back.

In the photos, the petticoat is worn over a bum pad that will bring volume to the hips and will emphasize the finesse of the waist.

Charlotte is made of prewashed medium-weight linen (205gr/m), in a range of colors matching Atelier Serraspina's color palette. You can therefore combine your Charlotte open dress with petticoats, linen or tartan shawls, as well as with sashes from the entire boutique.

Outer fabric: 100% prewashed linenLining: 100% organic cotton

The Charlotte outfit is to be put on as follows:

The petticoat:

Put on your petticoat by the head.Once put on, the petticoat is tied in the following way: you start by tying the ties of the back panel, making a knot on the front; then you adjust the front panel like an apron, with a double turn around the waist.

The overdress:

Just slip your arms through the sleeves of the dress mantua that you'll tie at the front, passing a cord through the eyelets on either side of the opening. In the presentation photos, the dress is worn over a bum pad which adds volume to the hips and emphases the thinness of the waist.
