Step back in time with our stunning CHARLOTTE Ensemble in Night and Plum Purple Linen. This exquisite ensemble is a faithful reproduction of a popular model donned by the ladies of Western Europe and America between 1770-1785. Comprising of two pieces, the CHARLOTTE features a long, open-front overdress with a fitted bodice, available separately, and a classic 18th-century skirt. This ensemble is more than just a costume; it is a true testament to the timeless elegance and grace of the 18th century.

The overdress is crafted from medium weight (205gr/m) prewashed night blue linen, featuring a flattering square neckline, and metal eyelets on either side of the front opening to ensure a perfect fit. The pre-shaped elbow sleeves trimmed with delicate pleated black lace ribbon make a striking contrast. Synthetic boning on the back and both sides of the front opening give the overdress a structured yet comfortable fit. The highlight of the overdress is a wide, pleated train that extends 37.5 inches (95 cm) in length, adding a touch of drama and sophistication.

The companion piece to the overdress is an authentic 18th-century pleated petticoat skirt. This skirt, available in either night blue or plum purple, is made of two linen panels sewn on the sides and is also 37.5 inches (95 cm) long. The skirt and the white cotton lining of the bust and sleeves are all made from prewashed, medium weight linen, ensuring durability and comfort.

Every aspect of the CHARLOTTE ensemble has been handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, capturing the essence of 18th-century fashion. Remember, when you purchase this ensemble, you aren't just buying a costume, but a piece of history, beautifully recreated for the modern woman. This ensemble is perfect for historical reenactments, themed parties, or just to satisfy your love for vintage fashion. Step into the CHARLOTTE Ensemble and let the romance of the 18th century come alive!

All About Charlotte

Overdress:

The CHARLOTTE overdress consists of a fitted bodice to which is attached a wide pleated open skirt, pleated in the 18th-century manner. This 18th-century costume has a very generous volume of fabric. You can match the Charlotte overdress with any skirt from the store's HELOISE collection.

The fitted linen bodice is full lined with cotton poplin. Its square neckline closes at the front with a band of eyelets on either side of the opening. A delicate lace ribbon trims the end of the preformed elbow sleeves.

Skirt:

The HELOISE petticoat is made of two panels of fabric, joined by the sides whose upper end remains open on each side. This opening allows you to easily put on the skirt.

The two panels of this historical petticoat are pleated in the style of the 18th century. On the front, the pleats start from the central box towards the sides. On the back, the folds start from the sides to converge in the middle of the back.

In the photos, the petticoat is worn over a bum pad that will bring volume to the hips and will emphasize the finesse of the waist.

Charlotte is made of prewashed medium-weight linen (205gr/m), in a range of colors matching Atelier Serraspina's color palette. You can therefore combine your Charlotte open dress with petticoats, linen or tartan shawls, as well as with sashes from the entire boutique.

Outer fabric: 100% prewashed linenLining: 100% organic cotton

Turn inside out before washing. Use cold hand wash only. Do not bleach, soak, rub, or tumble dry.

The Charlotte outfit is to be put on as follows:

The petticoat:

Put on your petticoat by the head.Once put on, the petticoat is tied in the following way: you start by tying the ties of the back panel, making a knot on the front; then you adjust the front panel like an apron, with a double turn around the waist.

The overdress:

Just slip your arms through the sleeves of the dress mantua that you'll tie at the front, passing a cord through the eyelets on either side of the opening. In the presentation photos, the dress is worn over a bum pad which adds volume to the hips and emphases the thinness of the waist.
