This 18th-century historical dress faithfully reproduces the "English dress" or "Round Gown" worn in Western Europe and America around the years 1770-1785.
The LOUISE D'ÉPINAY 18th-century dress comes in one piece: the mantua is sewn to both sides of the skirt's front panel. The whole gown has a very generous volume of fabric.

The fitted bodice is full lined with cotton poplin. Its square neckline closes at the front with a band of eyelets on either side of the opening. On this linen model, a delicate lace ribbon trims the end of the preformed elbow sleeves.

Regarding the fabric, this is the Ashridge Brown from the Dutch Heritage fabrics designed by Petra Prins and Nel Kooiman. Their fabrics are reproduction prints inspired by traditional floral designs found in 17th and 18th-century Dutch chintz. Variations of these beautiful florals can be found throughout history, documentaries, dramas, and wallpaper/textile design.
